Progressive Housing Ventures develops new housing in “in fill” locations within older suburbs of Philadelphia. These industrially-based suburban pockets were once often bypassed for new housing community. Some are environmentally contaminated brownfields from prior uses. Now their close-in locations and easy access to train stations, retail and jobs make them ripe for new housing investment and popular with buyers or renters seeking low maintenance lifestyles.

According to the recent Census, less than 1 in 4 households in the U.S. is a nuclear family and by 2010, there are expected to be fewer households with children than in 2000. Within suburban markets, extensive but untapped demand exists by “mingles”, singles, unmarried professionals, divorcees and empty nesters for product with limited maintenance demands. They want something unique, and they want the convenience of walking to train stations, restaurants, retail and amenities.

Progressive Housing Ventures is focused on these emerging market segments. The company plans and develops a variety of multifamily and single family housing types, tailored to each unique site. Architecture and land planning reflect the character of the surrounding neighborhood and its needs. Creating the community involves an active dialogue with local governing officials and area neighbors and often entails modifications to existing ordinances to promote “win win” solutions.
